Where I Stand

How I would represent you...
My philosophy of government is that it is there first, foremost and finally to protect your inalienable rights as human beings. I promise to look at every bill and ask myself, will this empower the citizens of Wisconsin to make their own live's better? Will this bill protect their rights? Will this bill add any restrictions on my constituents individual rights?

I believe the government's role is not to create jobs or provide for every comfort we desire. The government should get out of the way and allow us to do what we need to in order to provide for ourselves and families. Government should focus on protecting us from those who would do us harm. We should allow and encourage private charity once again to provide for our needy. Government should tax to perform only the most basic functions and leave the rest of our income to our own discretion.

Government is not in place to solve every problem. Many times it is government that creates the problems in the first place. It is each and every one of our responsibilities to solve the problems that affect us daily.  Most of our most pressing problems can be solved on the community level by local, civic and business leaders.

I am also a firm believer in term limits. Career politicians have led us down the path to socialism. They think more about re-election than they do about how to allow us to remain free to pursue our goals and live our lives. Career politicians govern to help those who contribute or vote for them and minimize those who disagree with their agendas. (Did I mention my opponent has been in the same office for 27 years?) I promise to serve no more than 2 terms if elected and will push for a return to a part-time legislation with no benefits. Instead, our legislators should work in their communities as I do and obtain their benefits from private employers or their own dime and not the taxpayers hard work. I believe in citizen legislators and will continue my career as a nurse.

I hope you allow me to represent you for the next two years.

Our business community and the economy...
Wisconsin continues to stifle business with taxes and regulations. Mandates placed on business and red tape for business start ups has left us behind the rest of the nation. Many states have gotten out of the way, providing business leaders and entrepreneurs the ability to compete, flourish and grow. Wisconsin needs to stop micro-managing business and reduce the tax burden on both business and individual.

Health Care...
The recent federal health care bill is unconstitutional. Our current state senators failed the citizens miserably voting for a bill they did not read while ignoring the FACT that Wisconsin does a good job helping to cover it's citizens. Party politics came before the people. I will vote to opt Wisconsin out of the federal health care bill and will instead look for free market solutions to reduce the cost of health care.

Education...
Our educational system is in need of reform. In many cases it is over funded for the results. Private schools continue to out perform many public schools at a fraction of the cost. It is time to think outside the box! Virtual schools, charter schools, parental choice and competition among schools is what is needed. America looks at health care as bankrupting us but education spending is rising at a much faster pace with little or no results to show for it.

Individual Safety...
I believe in the inalienable right to defend yourself and your family. If you are not safe, you can not flourish in life. We must be safe from those who would do us harm. Government can not provide for your individual safety, they can only augment your own defense. This is why I unquestionably support the second amendment. I will support open and concealed carry in Wisconsin and your right to not be prosecuted for defending your home, life or family.

My campaign slogan is start Fresh in Wisconsin
F--
Fundamentals--constitutional, smaller, less intrusive government
R-- Revitalize and Re-invigorate business in Wisconsin-Get government out of the way
E--
Educate our youth—Think outside the box, home school, virtual schools,  charter schools, choice and public schools
S-- Safety  provided through the Second Ammendment in Wisconsin--concealed carry, Castle Doctrine
H--
Health care— Opt out of the unconstitutional federal bill, look for free market solutions in Wisconsin.
